Birds are well-known for their singing and changing feather patterns.  However, if they have access to your businesses siding, eves or roof, birds will quickly make a mess of it. They also nest on ledges and build up droppings that can become unsanitary hazards for everyone who passes by.
Bird droppings should not be taken lightly.  Bird droppings can spread a variety of diseases and even if they aren't on any structures or sidewalks, the acidity of their droppings can cause damage to surfaces around them. If left unattended, the droppings can cause irreparable damage to your building materials. This will increase the cost of repairs as well as cleanup and control costs.  You can simply disturb these dropping piles by blowing a little wind, and the particles will fly all over the place, bringing along the disease. It is important to be cautious if birds are nesting in your building, and to call a professional bird control company.  It's not something that anyone likes to think about. However, you don't need to wait for it to happen before you take action.  Here are some simple tips to prevent bird infestations in your home and office.

Although birds may appear to be harmless and cute, their droppings can have serious consequences.  Birds can also create nests in unsanitary areas, which can lead to fires and water damage due to materials that block air flow or restrict water flow.  These potential dangers are compounded by the fact that bird droppings can cause damage to concrete walls and lead to fires.

Bird exclusion is the best way to prevent problems like these. In order to keep pest birds from inhabiting your building, you should install bird deterrents. Birds that become comfortable in an area and roost in the same spot for a long time can cause damage. More expensive methods of bird control will be required if they decide not to leave.

Prevention is always safer and more economical.  Below is a list of easy ways to reduce the chances that birds will find your commercial property suitable for their needs and move on.

Avoid Bird Infestations From Your Building

  • Clear out your gutters and get rid of any other standing water.  They may be attracted to water that is available for them to drink.
  • Avoid putting any projections, such as ledges, around your wall. They are a great place for birds to roost.
  • Prune all trees regularly and trim them as often as possible. They can shelter birds better if they have more leaves.
  • You should cover all trash cans as they attract pest birds such as pigeons and other undesirable wildlife.
  • Keep your outdoor environment clean. If your pet mistreats the trash can, clean it immediately. Birds will be attracted to food leftovers.
  • It is best to avoid feeding pest birds.  Bird feeders that don't have weight control are also prohibited.
  • All openings that allow small birds to enter your building must be sealed
  • Make sure that all vent, loft, or eave openings remain blocked.
  • To prevent birds from entering exterior doors, install door strips
